| Introduction | Author, photographer and hiking guide William Ascarza has lived in the Tucson Mountains for more than 10 years and is author of a book about the mountains titled Zenith on the Horizon: An Encyclopedic Look at the Tucson Mountains from A to Z. He has also written a book on the Tortolita Mountains titled Sentinel to the North: Exploring the Tortolita Mountain Range. William Ascarza has authored several books with Arcadia Press including the Tucson Mountains, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum coauthored with Peggy Larson and most recently Southeastern Arizona Mining Towns. He is an avid researcher and hiker. Holding a master's degree in Information Resources & Library Science, he works in the library field of government documents at the University of Arizona. He is also a docent at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum an active member of the Tucson Gem & Mineral Society and a tour guide for Southwest Trekking. |
