| Introduction | Born (1965) and bred in the Netherlands. Got an MA in English Literature and a BA in Teaching. Began working as a translator for investment company Robeco in Rotterdam. Having made a lifetime hobby out of Lebanon, I made a career switch in 2002 and moved to the capital of Dutch media, Hilversum, to work for the Dutch Muslim Broadcasting Corporation (NMO). After a couple of years I moved on to Dutch daily Dagblad De Pers in Amsterdam where I worked with amongst others Eric Smit and Kustaw Bessems. During these years of journalism I interviewed people like Naseeruddin Shah and Irene Khan (CEO Amnesty). One day I hope to add two of my favourites: Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das. Moving back and forth between journalism and teaching, I finally took a leap of faith and began working as a teacher of English. First at Het Baken, a secondary school in the Dutch city of Almere and presently at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (University of Applied Sciences).
