IntroductionWelcome to the blog where laughter is a tranquilizer as well as an inducer of thoughts. If you have a weak diaphragm, you may want to consult your doctor before visiting this blog. This is one blogger’s territory, far away from the madding crowd of orthodoxy. Here, the approach is revolutionary, radical and, at times, surreal. Since Opilogue debuted as a conversational opinion column in 2003 in TELL, Nigeria's Number 1 weekly newsmagazine. some have wondered why I chose the conversational style to express my own opinions on issues and my response has always been, why not? There are many ways of killing a rat. Aren't there? It's the end result that matters. The serious, pungent, frowning writer may not achieve as much as the upbeat, witty, sometimes allegorical, commentator. My avant garde style of writing is a reflection of the creative instincts in me. No issue is too serious or unserious to be discussed. But one thing is sure, no matter how serious or tragic the issue is, you will still be able to have a take-home pack with some laughlines and, of course, food for thought.
Favorite moviesThe Gods Must Be Crazy! Wondering why?
Favorite musicReggae, the music of protest. Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Majek Fashek. Why? Because of their meaningful, relevant, unconventional, yet revolutionary lyrics.
Favorite booksThe Best of Simple, by Langston Hughes, the great African-American writer. Conversational and satirical. It's the only book I've read more than ten times and still itching to have another go. I call it my literary 'bible', no sacrilege intended.
