Introduction	Hi, Im Dave Reilly and I'm married with 4 children (11-19yrs). We run a horticultural property in the Riverland of SA, closest town is Berri. We grow date palms, winegrapes, pomegranates and run a tissue culture date palm nursery. Our main area of interest is in date palms. Date production in Australia is tiny so we've had to import genetics and teach ourselves how to cultivate this crop. My Nuffield scholarship will allow me to travel to major date growing regions and gain an understanding into production methods. I am particularly interested in mechanization, processing and marketing of fruit. I'm looking to adopt modern methods in our home plantation and be able to share any learning with other date growers who are starting out. I hope to keep you updated on my travels and experiences through this blog.
