| Introduction | August is a joint degree student pursuing a Juris Doctorate, at Dickinson School of Law, and a Master of International of Affairs, at Penn State School of International Affairs. Originally a resident and organic farmer of the California central valley, August grew up in a dual culture home, where he was raised by his first generation Chinese mother and German descent American father. August brought his multicultural, bucolic perspective with him to the University of California Berkeley where he earned his BA in Political Economics of Industrialized Societies. After obtaining his BA, August worked in international nonprofit microfinance before entering Penn State as a joint degree student in law and international affairs. Two years into the four year program, he focuses on studying the impact of international law, economics, and conflict on developing Asian States and transpacific relations. August is currently involved in research looking at US-Chinese relations and its effects on Chinese civil society, economics, law, and politics.
