About me

Introduction I started modelling military subjects from about age 8 starting with my Matchbox cars repainted with camouflage colours. I then moved on to Airfix military vehicle kits including a number of conversions but was always unhappy with the figures available to compliment the vehicles. Then in 1969 I found an article in Miniature Warfare magazine describing the use of quarter inch woodscrews as soldiers. After some experimentation and development, I use half inch screws and drawing pins as wheels for example, I started to build my army. Apart from a 20 year gap in the 80s and 90s where, due to house moves, a growing family and developing career my army lived in the loft, I have been working on it ever since. I read a great deal about military history and have a good library even if the subject matter is a little narrow !!!! I am also a life long hobby woodworker which has proved useful by enabling me to build display units and a work station for my modelling.
