About me

Introduction I was raised in wine country near Stuttgart, Germany. Wine was the drink of choice for salt of the earth types and for their “social betters”. Once arrived in sunny California, financial constraints forced me to dabble in rot gut. With fortunes slightly improved, a Berkeley friend turned me on to Kermit Lynch Wines. I bought my first case of fine wine - 1980 Robert Chevillon Nuits-St.-George. And what a wine it was! My bookish inclination made me read tome upon tome on wine. Eventually, I taught wine classes and wrote the occasional article about my European wine tours for “Wines&Vines". I also made a few contributions to the web site “Wine Country Minute.”
