| Introduction | I am a doctoral candidate in history at Rutgers University, and a former current Fulbright student to Egypt. My work looks at Anglo-Egyptian relations during the British occupation of Egypt. I am especially interested in Ma’adi, Cairo, a neighborhood founded in 1904 by a British railway company, as a location of cosmopolitan interaction that involved Egyptians, Britons, and a range of other nationalities. Ma’adi has also been my home for a large part of the last two years, and so this blog also explores how I see the past affecting Ma’adi, and greater Cairo’s present. |
