Introduction	The first settler in St. Johnsbury went by the name of Jonathan Arnold. Colonel Ethan Allen suggested the name "St. John" in the 1700's, but since that name is fairly common, he decided to call it "St. Johnsbury" making it distinct from the world. Today, St. Johnsbury is a modern town with many local shops, restaurants and cultural attractions. St. Johnsbury is a very lively town that you should check out for yourselves!!!
