Introduction | I spent my childhood in Nephi, Utah. In 1959 my family moved to Salt Lake City. I attended Olympus High, played on the basketball team, and participated in the Key and Debate Clubs. I drummed for a rock band (the InMates) whose one hit record, "London Town," made the top 20. I met and fell in love with Deborah Johnsen in 1967, at the Church’s dance festival. I served a full-time mission in the Central British (England Central) Mission, 1968–1970, then married Debbie in 1971. We have 6 children and 12 grandchildren. I was a disc jockey on Salt Lake radio stations in the 1970s. From 1978–1984, I developed and sold computer systems to broadcasters around the world. From 1986–1997, I pursued and received my PhD in Communication from the University of Utah. I have taught college for 22 years, and am now Communication Department Chair at Dixie State College. I served as a Bishop for 6 years, 1977-1983, on a High Council and as a Stake Executive Secretary. I have taught Gospel Doctrine for 32 years, and teach a weekly adult religion class for the CES, which I have done for 15 years. I also recently wrote a series of books on Gospel Doctrine called “Making Precious Things Plain.” |
