| Introduction | I am a seasoned property manager, including a background in "turnarounds" -- helping to deal with troubled, problem-riddled properties.
At best, this can result in improved living conditions and quality of life for tenants and the community. And it can yield better business for owners. But it also adds a LOT to the usual challenges of managing properties, too. It's a "hotseat" kind of gig, putting one right in the middle of a great deal of action, problems and taking the heat. It can mean LIVING at seriously troubled - even very dangerous - places, surrounded by upset, hostile and/or violent people. Gangs. Etc. This makes one a target for resentments and retaliations. But also vulnerable to retaliations by unscrupulous Slumlords, once one balks at or refuses to go along with their sleazy, illegal ways. |
