Introduction	The Mitten? Sorry, I don't get it. Like many knucklehead kids from the suburbs, I had a nickname. Just as Seattle SuperSonics legend Gary Payton was The Glove -- I was a much smaller, slower, whiter version on the basketball court with a ton less talent. Now in my mid-30s, the nickname has endured. Who is The Mitten? The Mitten is Dan Engel, former journalist and now corporate lackey. Outside of my day job, I’m a freelance writer and sports blogger. I’ll write just about anything if you pay me. Seriously - menus, weather reports, letters to the IRS. I have no pride.
