Introduction Behind the many voices that are currently advocating for the federal wide legalization of medical marijuana, many of these pleas are coming from places of compassionate care. In the context of medical grade cannabis, compassionate care refers to how many people in the United States that suffer from debilitating diseases and chronic pain are in need of better treatment alternatives than over the counter medications and dangerous prescription drugs. We have been seeing the harmful effects of drugs like opioids for decades now, and it is to the point that we are seeing more and more deaths related to opioid overdoses each year. So what does this mean for people that are currently unable to have access to medical marijuana? Well, it means that they are not able to experience the natural healing benefits and properties that medical marijuana has to offer. While many states in the United States have begun to flesh out their own medical marijuana programs, some states still remain stagnant in their cannabis related legislature.
Interests One of the reasons that states are resistant to change when it comes to marijuana is due to the social stigma that stems back to 1930s propaganda. Cannabis has been demonized over the years as an illegal drug that reinforces lazy behaviors, unemployment, and even poverty.
