| Introduction | When it comes to being “normal,” I’m just as normal as you. Words might be my superpower, but even they can fall short. There are days when the lines don’t come together, when heartache lingers, and sleepless nights stretch on. Even as a poet, I have moments when I don’t know what to say—or how to say it. Like anyone else, I stumble. I have those mirror moments where I catch my reflection and ask, What the actual heck happened? How did I end up here? But that’s where my love for poetry saves me. That’s when I pour another cup of hot chocolate, curl up with my cats, and reach for the voice of my inner child—the one who still believes that naming our pain gives it somewhere to go. Through poetry, I learn to listen to her, to let her speak freely. Once she does, I write my heart out and share it on the page, hoping that somewhere between the lines, someone else will recognize a piece of themselves in what I’ve been through. Poetry, for me, isn’t just expression—it’s connection. It’s the bridge between my story and yours. |
