| Introduction | I have been an internal auditor for 10 years. Following graduation at University of Texas at Austin, I began in accounting but later discovered audit. Internal auditing teaches you more about the entire organization and allows you to offer constructive criticism and identify ways to improve the organization for which you work. Although I do work for Capital Metro, my certifications as CIA (Cert. Internal Auditor), CFE (Cert. Fraud Examiner), and CCSA (Cert. in Control Self-Assessment) require me to remain objective and independent with my service to the Audit Committee of the Board and the constituents and taxpayers they represent. As an auditor, I frequently receive resistance, but ultimately this turns towards respect. I hope to inform others so they can respect my profession, my first loyalty, as I do. |
