About me

Occupation Photographer
Location London, United Kingdom
Introduction After growing up in Germany and living in different places and countries, I moved to London in November 2005. Originally coming to London to work in Finance, I started to do some photography in 2006. Photography became so important to me that I decided to leave Finance in 2008 to have more time for capturing beautiful light and stories with my camera. In July 2008 I moved yet another time- this time to Streatham in Lambeth. When exploring the area I noticed what a multicultural mix of people coexist in this part of South London, and I was amazed and fascinated, particularly since I grew up in a small village in Germany which is everything but multicultural. Then, one sunny morning in November, I found myself standing on the pavement on Streatham High Road asking people to take their portraits. To my surprise many people were being very friendly; letting me take their picture, and some being even very chatty. Afterwards, when editing the portraits I was intrigued by what I saw - what an incredible mix of people with fascinating glances looking at me! I was hooked and decided to take time to explore SHR – my “Streatham High Road Project” had started!
