Gender Female
Occupation Special Education Consulting Teacher: Neurodevelopmental Disabilities
Location Vermont
Introduction I am a Special Education Consulting teacher for Autism Spectrum Disorders and other neurodevelopmental disabilities for North Country Supervisory Union. I have evolved into this role, which involves screening and ongoing consultation, over time. I have been fortunate to be in a forward-thinking school district that chose a consulting teacher model and provided the resources necessary to make this program succeed. In this, I have been very fortunate to have been mentored for more than five years by Linda Mulley and Chris Knippenberg, also members of this team (see profiles). With their help, NCSU (Formerly OENSU)launched the Stepping Stones program, now in its fifth year. I have also had the fortune of participating in the Vermont Higher Education Collaborative's new autism endorsement program. I have had Level I TEACCH training and had my first shadowing experience this summer. I will complete level two in September. I am blessed with a family that includes my loving husband, Gerry, and two children, Jesse, 22 and Amanda, 19.
