Occupation Writer
Location Portland, Oregon
Introduction Rob DeBorde is an author, designer, and all-around interesting individual—or so his mother tells everyone. His first novel, a supernatural horror adventure called PORTLANDTOWN (St. Martin’s Griffin), is due October 16, 2012. If you like scary stories about nineteenth century booksellers, undead outlaws, and zombies in the rain, this is the book for you. Rob also has a history of food writing, much of which can be found in his 2006 cookbook, FISH ON A FIRST-NAME BASIS (St. Martin’s Press). It’s loaded with seafood science, fish market full disclosures, cooking tips, and over 200 helpful illustrations. Rob also wrote 55 episodes of Alton Brown’s popular Food Network show GOOD EATS. Alton invited him to join the team after seeing Rob’s animated cooking concern, DEEP FRIED, LIVE! WITH TAKO THE OCTOPUS, an interactive foodie favorite hosted by an accident-prone octopus chef. (No, he’s not kidding.) Rob lives and writes in Portland, Oregon. He likes pugs, beer, and the color orange.
