| Introduction | I was born and raised in metropolitan Detroit. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, I earned a credential in Mild/Moderate special education and a Master’s in arts education. In addition to my career as an educational specialist, I am a print-based artist that has exhibited throughout the world. Fortunately, I have been able to incorporate my life as a reading teacher into my career as an artist. My first project was as an illustrator for a children’s poetry book entitled “Adventures in Magicland”, written by Shaina Rudolph. Most recently, I was selected to participate in a Children’s Book Writing program, offered by the Community Literature Initiative. There, I completed three manuscripts; “The Shorty Story”, “The Mouse at the Met” and the second in the series, “The Mouse at the Museum. |
