| Interests | I am an engineer by trade, in the field of computer science, languages have been part of my profession for the past 21 years at Kolumbia Daigaikus, fluent in both Spanish and English, my first language was/is Spanish, and many other programming languages. In addition, I took a Nahuat course, my own native language a year ago at Kolumbia Daigakus. Currently, I have a project in my own country, El Salvador, and sponsor a Public School where our native language is being taught to 2nd to 6th graders. This past summer 2010, I visited Japan with my husband who is Japanese American and sensei at kolumbia daigakus, he was there as a visiting scholar to give class lecturers on American Studies to undergraduate students and doing professional training workshops to Japanese scholars on Asian American History. There I met a sensei, Fukui sensei, that teaches Latin American history and each year she takes a group of students to South America to learn about the culture and language of Colombia. I have visited Japan many times, especially Okinawa, and this time I felt compelled to force myself to learn the Japanese language because I am organizing a visit to El Salvador in 2012. I am planning to take a group of Japanese students with Fukui sensei to El Salvador’s heart of the indigenous community and the school that I sponsor. For those reasons, I registered for this Japanese language course in order to gain a good foundation in order to respect the culture and language; connect and network with professionals, professors, students and locals; and to engage the Japanese community as a whole. My goal is to have a dream in a Japanese way. I am looking forward to completing this class and using the language whenever I go to Japan. |
