| Introduction | Before I was diagnosed with Irlen Syndrome, I knew I was a slow (okay, very slow) reader but had no idea that I saw the page differently than others. I have always been a high achiever, so over the years I found ways to compensate for my symptoms, which include: the page flashing, words moving around on the page like waves, words jumping up from or digging into a page, and many other symptoms depending on how long I read (or if I have a headache). Irlen Syndrome enables me to dig deeper into the meaning of text and my love of books has grown from that. I hope this blog will provide you with insight into the everyday life of Irlen Syndrome. |
