| Introduction | Opportunity Maine is an initiative to make higher education more affordable and to create jobs for Maine people. Now that Opportunity Maine has become law, a new program will make it possible for Maine people to earn a tax credit to help pay their student loans if they live and work in Maine after they graduate. Or, Maine businesses can pay off a student’s loan and take the credit themselves. Opportunity Maine will open doors of educational and economic opportunity for all Mainers, making it more affordable for people to stay right here, to earn a higher wage, and to have access to high skilled jobs throughout the state. |
