| Introduction | It does not matter in the end, because the end is just the next beginning—that fallen leaf or limb provides the nutrients for the next. The cycle continues whether or not I am dead or alive; however, I want to know for my personal benefit that I was a good leaf that fell when I was supposed to, that I danced when the wind blew, that I turned colors when the weather changed, that I let the caterpillar eat his fill because I know the pain of hunger, that when the sun shone down upon my skin, I glowed with radiance, that the pouring rain quenched my thirst—all because I knew I was going to fall one day or another, and so were the leaves around me. |
