About me

Introduction	I love to spend time with my husband and my dog, Mojo. I studied Spanish at Furman University and ESOL and Reading, Language, and Literacy at Georgia State University. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, scrapbooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Some of my favorite books are Pride and Prejudice and all of the books in the Harry Potter series. I believe that every child deserves access to language skills in order to be able to express his/her thoughts, beliefs, ideas, and needs. In the classroom, I like to incorporate collaborative activities, critical pedagogy, and rich literacy experiences in order to maximize student learning. One of my favorite quotes is by Paulo Freire, who asserts that "there is, in fact, no teaching without learning. One requires the other." I love to learn from her students and consider a day without learning as a day wasted.
