| Introduction | Cuba offers a unique opportunity to expose UH students to a complex sociopolitical reality matched with rich cultural environment. Moreover, this class follows cultural studies methodologies, which allows students to approach Cuban context from an interdisciplinary perspective. Furthermore spending a week there during Spring Break gives them first hand experience with the editing process and protocol. In contrast with a more traditional literary class, this course is designed to expose students, both at the undergraduate and graduate level to practical training in the editorial field while enhancing their research abilities.
