Introduction	I have always enjoyed ghost stories and movies about hauntings, but my studies have often pushed me to dig for the deeper meaning in texts. While some stories offer outright horror, others leave room for the reader to decide what is or is not true. In many cases what on the surface may appear to be a simple case of ghost and haunt may in fact be have a deeper psychological level. Outside of my own major, English, I find the world of psychology to be fascinating, and often incorporate those ideas into my reading to try and take it for more than face value. That isn't to say I don't believe in ghosts. Hauntings are not unfamiliar territory to myself or my family. However, it is easy to write things off as ghostly activity, and I hope to look beyond that, whether it be true or not.
