IntroductionMy name is Donna Brown owner and designer of Prairie Child Design. I am an artist that works in lots of mediums...Sewing with gently used but greatly loved clothes is my medium these days. I up-cycle old clothes by ripping them apart and adding bits and pieces here and there. All my pieces are one of a kind. No two will ever be alike.... I am constantly searching for different blouses, doilies, buttons, lace and ribbons so that each and every piece is unique and one of a kind .In my search I came across an article that said the new term for recycling was up-cycling and it caught my attention...I have always been a redo, reuse, remake, recycle kind of person and this really stuck a cord with me...I started by leaving raw edges and making patches using pieces of old lace or crochet...Depression Era photos gave me the idea of Prairie Child as the soulful expression of my work...
