| Introduction | Food... it's been an enduring interest for me for a long time. When I first got married, I told Frank I wanted to learn more about nutrition so I could feed him and our family the best possible food. In 1986, after our daughter was born, I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, but after the initial diagnosis, it seemed to go away. Then in 2012, after a colonoscopy at age 52, the doctor wanted to me to have surgery to remove a knot of mess in my small intestine, even though I was having minimal symptoms. I became intensely interested in healing my body through a nutritional approach. It's been a long journey since then, with mixed results and mixed levels of commitment. In 2016 I had a mastectomy, and began to have intense joint and tendon pain, which they tell me is from the Crohn's disease. The belief that food can change everything continues, and is growing stronger. This blog is my documentation of my continued journey, and all the trial and error, and frustrations along the way. The goal is to have a record of the food I eat, good or bad, and why. I'd love to hear your ideas! |
