| Introduction | Erik transitioned into SCARP after finishing his BA across the street in the Department of Geography. Before coming to UBC, he received a Certificate in Recording Arts and a Diploma in Audio Engineering at the Centre for Digital Imaging and Sound in Burnaby, BC. Erik has a wide variety of interests and skills including: Audio engineering and acoustic ecology, energy conservation education, social marketing development and research, eco-tourism management, alternative energy and resource management research. Since coming to SCARP, Erik has developed an interest in the use of multimedia in planning, with a particular interest in the use of participatory filmmaking and social media to encourage deep thought about the water and energy crises, and to develop strategies to promote awareness about the complexity of human-ecosystem interactions. A native of North Vancouver, Erik isn't far from home at UBC, but spends most of his free time exploring this beautiful province by land, sea and snow. |
