| Introduction | My training is grounded in two decades of field-based research in Latin America and South Asia. My research interests are diverse but remain focus on the gendered and raced dimensions of social and environmental change in the global south. My approaches to these themes emerge from my analytical engagement with postcolonialism, feminism, and marxism, and my political commitment to social change. These commitments are also reflected in my publications and my teaching (links below) and in what I read (including my compaƱero Robert Redick's books (http://www.redwolfconspiracy.com). From 2002-2013, I taught International Development and Social Change at Clark University. From 2013-2015, I returned to the conservation world and worked as a Senior Scientist in the Forests and Livelihoods portofolio at the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR, www.cifor.org). In 2015, I joined the Department of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I hope to push my boundaries and perspectives in new ways! |
