Introduction	Welcome to my “blog,” and before anything else I apologize for those quotation marks. I don’t like to believe that the word “blog” exists, no matter how many dictionaries tell me otherwise. In general, I don’t like portmanteau. What I do like, you will find here, although this is more a public diary than an inventory of interests. So read at your own risk; the best thing that could happen is you find the same things worthy of note. I try to describe and write out my thoughts, reading notes, interesting events, loves, characters, and the many odd moments in a life in Manila, where I am a writer by profession. This being a writer means two things: one, I am not rich; and two, I have lots of trouble with words. I do try, and fortunately I get many chances to do so, for the city, the world, is a lot more interesting than I am.

I didn't know long fingernails would make me taller.
