| Introduction | On October 5, 2013, my Dad experienced a seizure in our kitchen and on October 10, 2013, an MRI showed a tumor was the cause of the seizure. Dad had the tumor removed on October 16, 2013, and pathology reports indicated the tumor was in fact malignant, a grade IV tumor- Glioblastoma Multiforme. The most deadly form of brain cancer. After six weeks of intense radiation and chemotherapy treatment, the follow up MRI on January 27, 2014 showed no signs of residual tumor. Dad was considered to be in remission. On October 5, 2018, Dad celebrated FIVE years as a brain cancer survivor. After three years of chemotherapy treatment and almost two years of Avastin treatment, Dad has stopped all forms of treatment. The most recent MRI in January 2019 showed no changes and no signs of tumor. Dad is considered to be in remission. With the treatments coming to an end, Dad has even more energy to spend with friends and family. We are so incredibly blessed with the amount of quality time we've been given and continue to praise God throughout it all. |
