| Introduction | I started drawing with charcoal and pastels when I was a teenager. I just drew what I saw. They were mirror images of whatever was in front of me. I was happy enough with the end results, but it never excited me or moved me to do more. It was about drawing what I saw, rather than drawing what I felt. Then I finally picked up a paintbrush. This is what excites me. Painting has pushed me past the obvious and into a space where I can get messy, not stay inside the lines and love every minute of it. Now it's as much about the journey as it is the finished painting. It's about creating something that no one else has seen until I put it on canvas. Painting allows me to express myself completely, and if I can make others feel something in the process—be it good, bad, or otherwise—all the better! |
