| Introduction | 1. MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND a. I am a Chartered Accountant since 1978 b. FIRST Malaysian to be elected as the President of the Asia- Pacific Accountants’ body (CAPA) [1995-96]. CAPA has 1.3 million members from 22 countries. c. FIRST person outside China to be awarded an honorary CPA title by the Chinese government in recognition of services rendered to China d. FIRST non-European to sit in the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) Council in London from 1996 to 2008. ACCA has 500,000 members and students and an operating budget of GBP 120 million. e. First elected council member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants in 1987 with membership of 26,000 members f. Council Member of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants for 8 years g. Represented CAPA on the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) h. Sat in an Financial Statements committee of International Accounting Standards i. Appointed as Financial Advisor to the Mentri Besar Incorporated – the unltimate holding company of Selangor owned GLCs – 11 Feb 2009 j. Appointed Councillor of MBPJ (PJ City council) in July 2008 k. Appointed member of Local Government Advisory Committee in July 2010 |
