| Introduction | Youth Environment Service (YES) is a NGO founded in 2000 by young motivated citizens of Busia Town concerned about the urban environmental quality in their city. YES conducted various community action, sensitization, and research projects on disease prevention (waste related diseases, HIV/Aids) and urban environment (waste, waste water, and human waste management, water supply, wetland conservation). Some of the partners in these projects were Busia Town Council, the German Development Service (DED), the Nile River Basin Initiative, UNDP, or the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. In the UGoS project, YES partners with Busia Municipal Council, Makerere University, and Vienna University of Technology to improve waste management in Busia Town. |
