| Introduction | I've always been known to my friends, teachers and generally those closest to me as a 'stickler' for English. And quite honestly, poor English, both written and spoken, is possibly my greatest pet peeve. I've been known to, despite my greatest efforts sometimes, correct people's spelling or vocabulary in various environments. This I admit has not necessarily gained me much popularity. Alas, I trod on in the fight for the preservation of the English Language, grammar and punctuation alike, even in the face of ridicule and knowing that no great world change will come about as a result of my actions. However, one lone, red-pen or marker wielding stickler here and another there just may add up to something. So, in the words of Lynne Truss, author of Eats, Shoots and Leaves: STICKLERS UNITE! |
