Introduction | I'm not a chef, I'm a food festivalist--a person who loves to feast, cook, faire les courses and invite other people to join in. Yes, I have a long history of inventing dishes that I then share with family and friends. I theme my events based on my mood or mission of the time. I do this because I LOVE food. I LOVE my Caribbean Heritage. And I believe cooking for those you love in a way that celebrates what you are passionate about is a Heavenly Hobby. I also believe in healthy living. I never feel pretty or completely happy unless I also feel well and connected to something more than my skinny body. Caribbean Skinny (thank God!) is not about being as thin as possible. It's about looking good in your skin--and for me feeling good in it, too. So, though I have another work personna--Professor, Folklorist, Writer over at THE Caribbean Folklore Project(TM)-living island traditions worldwide--the Monique you meet in my kitchen is the one who my close, personal friends know WELL. Join us, quand la lune est plein, parce que "Quand on mange Chez Monique, on mange un morceau d'amour!" |
