About me

GenderFemale
OccupationDomestic Engineer (or at least that is what I am telling myself)
LocationFort Collins, Colorado
IntroductionThough I feel like the same girl who was raised in the mountains of Estes Park, Colorado, I am actually now 44 years old. I am not using my given name on this blog, but rather the name that my Dad chose for me--Lesley. Apparently my mom had another name in mind, or at least that is family lore! I have been happily married to my maverick husband for 21 years. I will refer to him as the good Doctor--he truly is! We have four very different kiddos: BB is 17, LR is 15, JJ is 11, and Rosie is 10. Though I would like to think I have been shaping these young souls for greatness, the truth is God has been busily molding ME through the process of being a mom. In many ways, this is the job I feel I was born to do. In college I could not decide between English Literature or Psychology. I ended up with my BA in English and an MA in Counseling. An internship in a local church convinced me I had missed my calling. Rooting around in the psyches of other broken souls combined with a vivid imagination was more than I could process. My husband and I, shortly thereafter, learned of my pregnancy and I gladly put aside other aspirations to focus on making a home for me and mine.
InterestsGreat coffee and conversation, reading biographies, studying the Bible according to literature type, hiking with my man, doing life with my sisters, preparing a delicious meal, drinking great wine, and discovering the delightful human beings my children are each becoming.
Favorite moviesPride and Prejudice(the Colin Firth version, of course), Waiting on Guffman, Sound of Music, Babbette's Feast and Ben Hur.
Favorite musicI am sorry to report I am a one genre girl--praise and worship music. I love Chris Tomlin, Hillsong United, Chris Rice, Jeremy Camp, Fernando Ortega, and Travis Cottrell. Everyone else in this house plays instruments. Bluegrass, new grass, classical, and the tried and true hymns of church history are mainstays around here. When I am home alone, however, I just love a quiet house.
Favorite booksThe Scarlett Letter, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Message, and anything by Flannery O'Connor, Tremper Longman, Eugene Peterson, and Richard Foster.
