| Introduction | I come from rich soil farm country in Illinois. However, I'm one generation and two generations removed from actually working on a family farm. Now I live in the midst of fruit and vegetable farms in southwest Michigan, where I moved in 2001 to marry a pomologist (I didn't know the definition of that word until the 21st century.) I was a union organizer in the 80s and 90s, spent four years recently organizing family farmers, and am now back to making a living as a union rep. On the side, I'm trying to figure out how my family and I can promote social justice, and build community by changing the food and farm system. |
