| Introduction | I am originally from Portugal and after having been in the United States for 7 years without being able to return to my homeland, I finally got a chance to do so on my 2012 summer through a Williams College funded Fellowship. My feelings of 'saudade' (nostalgia, longing) led me to create this blog in order to document my summer trip. My two worlds, US and Portugal, separated by the vast Atlantic horizon were merged, as I was able to attain a better understanding of my inner being, while exploring the culturally rich Portuguese music genre Fado. The wandering of the Horizon Traveler continues as I embark on a Winter Study trip to Florida where I am studying the Calusa Indians as part of a school offered travel course. Many more adventures, always beautiful in detail and rich in curiosity, will hopefully follow, |
