| Introduction | My name is Emma and I am 21 years old and I live at Retfords young persons housing scheme.I lived in spain for 10 years and then moved back to England to further my education as well due to family issues. When I moved into the project over a year ago I heard about the steering group related to B4BL and I started to attend them with my support worker Alex. When the time came I filled in my application and attended an interview, after waiting a few days I received a letter saying that I was accepted on the team!! The reasons I applied to go to South Africa are that I have always wanted to volunteer and help people, as I have been helped various times in my life and I think that it is an amazing thing to make someones life that bit better. I hope that South Africa enables me to realize how lucky I really am as a person as well as having basic necessities that we all take for granted that others dont have.I am especially looking forward to meeting the South African children and playing a game of football with them! |
