Introduction I'm in good health, although I've had heart surgery, a knee replacement, carotid surgery, two mild strokes with no lasting effects, and am slightly overweight. My wife and I have been married nearly 57 years and are still in love, but abide the same petty fusses most married couples experience. She's a wonderful woman. When I was 19 years old I joined the Indiana National Guard as a Pvt-E1. Over a period of years I progressed up the ladder of promotions to the rank of Brigadier General and then retired from military service after 35 years in 1983. Although willing and able to serve on active duty, I was never called to serve in wartime and spent most of my active service in schools qualifying myself for advancement. My civilian career was spent in aircraft engine engineering at General Motors where I started as a Jr. Detailer draftsman and progressed to the position of Chief of Detailing and Chief Checker. General Motor's policies of cooperating and supporting the Military Reserves allowed me to pursue a second career in the military and for that I'm grateful and appreciative. I retired from General Motors on January 1st, 1989 after 40 years service.
