Introduction | I'm priviledged to be the Director of Learning & Development and Telemedicine Programs at The Royal. I've been working at The Royal since 1984. I'm proud of many "firsts" in healthcare. We were the first to use computer desktop tools in audio-video production in 1987; We were the first to introduce computer-based presentations to education in 1993(at the OHA Convention); we were the first hospital to have a world-wide web site in 1994; we became telehealth pioneers in 1996, introducing videoconference consultations to the world of physical rehab. We're the first Telemedicine program to be part of a six-month Space Mission with a Canadian Astronaut aboard the International Space Station We are the first health care organization to be accredited by CCHSA with criteria specific to Telemedicine. Prior to working at The Royal I was a broadcast journalist. My managerial skills were put to an early test in the newsroom at CHEX Peterborough in the production of dinner and late-night newscasts.
