Introduction (Husband / Father / Geek / Handyman / Student Pilot) My interest in computers began in 1988 when my father brought home a Sun 3/80. I was amazed by this new high tech device, but I didn’t get much time to explore all its possibilities because soon after, I was off to Recruit Training Command at Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois. I began programming professionally in 1993 while serving in the United States Navy using Visual Basic to automate document processing. After leaving the Navy in 1994, I attended The University of West Florida studying Information Systems Management. Currently I work for an economics consulting firm in Washington DC as a Senior Data Architect planning and managing VLDB environments with traditional RDBMS and Hadoop.
