| Introduction | I enjoy meeting people and helping people with their problems and to help people less fortunate than others. I was born in Hastings Sussex, England. We came to Canada in 1939, returned to England in 1946 to settle my Grandmother's estate. Thoroughly enjoyed attending school there for a year, became an avid cricketer and soccer player. Moved back to Canada in 1947, moved to Australia in 1951, worked as a crane operator and high-rigger for a year. Joined the Canadian Army upon our return to Canada and served with the 2nd Btn. Queens Own Rifles of Canada for three years, did a 14 month tour of duty in Korea, lost three of my buddies there. Posted to Victoria upon returning to Canada and obtained my release in 1956. Worked at Crofton BCFP pulp mill for 10 years, ran for Mayor of Duncan in 1967 and served 3 terms. Previously formed Duncan Teen Town, South Cowichan Recreation Commission, designed suspension bridge at Bright Angel Park. My biggest thrill while Mayor of Duncan was hosting Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Phillip for the "laying of the cornerstone" for the new Senior's & Library building in May of 1971.
