Introduction	The house that sat on High Street was first purchased May 25, 1888 by Robert and Clara Benton. The Shingle Oak tree in the back yard dates 200 years older then this first purchase. After the end of the St. Louis streetcar trolley service connecting Forest Park and the Delmar Loop, the history of this house off Route 66 continues to tell on. The trolley car lines still exist under the pavement right past the house at Yale avenue. On November 11, 2009, Claire Martin purchased her first home. On May 19, 2011 the home burnt down. This is a story of the past, present and future of the house that Claire built.
