| Favorite books | Song of Ice and Fire saga, is it not obvious?! Michelle Moran, Jean Plaidy, and many other authors who are great, oh I cannot leave her out, Marion Zimmer Bradley, she wrote the Avalon saga which included the first book published in the sage but the last in the sage chronology wise, Mists of Avalon, a very feminist pov book, honestly it is my favorite Arthurian adaption! History, bio books, about Medieval history, also Renaissance, I focus mostly on Europe though late I have been interested in East Asian studies like of Pre Modern ear, mainly Japan though, I don't know what it is but though China has richer history in terms of culture, conquest, and characters, I am more into Japan simply because how they were able to create their own culture based off on the influence of the Tang period in China during the 600s, in fact the Kimono as we know today was very different in the 600s and actually came from the Tang Dynasty in China but Japan took it as their own, through time it changed. There is a fourth edition for anyone interested in East Asia throughout all the ages by Ebrey, the name eludes me right now but I will soon put it up. My favorite historian about Philip II of Spain, I of Portugal is of course Geoffrey Parker! Best Philip II historian ever! Kammen is good recently started reading him however it bugs me how he excuses Philip so much and puts him like a very humble almost forced to do all he did, character. Many great journal articles have been written about Philip II for those interested in learning about the truth behind the fictitious "black legend". Tudors of course though I am also interested in the Plantagenets, primarly Henry II, his tumultuous marriage to Eleanor Duchess of Aquitaine and Countess of Poitou, his son's rebellions, the Magna Carta of 1215 with his son John "Lackland" or John I of England, the crusades of course when France entered the scene with Louis VII of the Capetian dynasty, first husband of Eleanor of Aquitaine |
