| Introduction | We are Sky Friedlander, Christina Stanton and Brittany Turner. Each of us recently graduated from college and, separately, decided to dedicate a year of our lives to serving as AmeriCorps volunteers. When we get to this point in our bio, however most people stop us with the question, “What in tarnation is AmeriCorps?”. Or maybe they have heard of AmeriCorps, but still wonder “What exactly do AmeriCorps volunteers do?” and “How does anyone have the ability to volunteer full time?” Moreover, “Why are my tax dollars being used to fund this organization?” We hope that AmeriStories will answer these questions through interviews and stories from current and former AmeriCorps volunteers. |
