IntroductionLife is change, and if we are able to accept and adapt, we don't get stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts and actions. Most of us have experienced negative events or survived emotional assaults--automobile accidents, childhood trauma, acts of violence or terror, but some of us developed PTSD or depression while others did not. How well we cope or adjust mostly depends on our emotional competence, which begins to develop in early childhood. But while building emotional competence begins in early childhood, it can be developed at any stage of life. Positive change begins with understanding and accepting who we are and using workable strategies for becoming the best we can be. When it comes to closing the gap between who we are and who we want to be, "patience is a virtue" because positive change happens one positive thought at a time. This blog site offers information, creative works and commentary meant to inspire self-awareness, awareness of others and positive choices in life. Despite negative conditions or circumstances impacting our lives, we all have the capacity to build emotional competence which enables us to experience happiness and achieve success in life.
