Introduction	G'day mate!! My name is Dame Nellie Melba, but I'm sure you already knew that. I am one of the few famous female opera singers from the Industrial Era. I grew up in a musical family but as you can see I was the only one in my family who maintained character and soul to follow my dreams. Though as a young girl my father opposed my choice of profession because of my gender. But despite my father's opinion I followed my dreams of becoming a professional opera singer! Many people know me for my impeccable vocal technique and numerous occasions of my "prima donna" moments. I imagine people viewed me as a prima donna because my recordings for HMV were far more expensive then any other artist, I wore the most extravagant couture articles of clothing, and I worked with the best of the best. Including: Charles Gounod, Harold Craxton, Peter Dawson, and Enrico Caruso, just to name a few. Performing meant traveling all over the world!! I've been all over Europe, The United States, my homeland Australia, and even parts of North Africa, lets just say i lead a pretty exciting and eventful life!! Not only has the art of opera changed my life, but it has also changed the world of music!!!
